Digital Fact File of Rivers

ISA Activity- River, The life Giver

Activity 1 : Digital Fact File of a River

Grades involved: Year 7 and Year 8

Fact files help students to collect and present basic data and analysis on a given topic. As the students studied the features of Rivers, they were asked to collect basic information on various rivers of the world. And to make it more interesting, the students used power point presentations.
This blog is on the Digital Fact files of various rivers created by my students of Grades -7 and 8. Please go through them and add in your valuable comments.

   The Activity Description
  • The students were briefed upon the features of a river with the help of a power point presentation and a globe activity
  • The students were taken out for a campus activity to see the features of a river practically
  • They were then divided into teams based on 5 important rivers of the world i.e. Ganges, Mississippi, Nile, Thames and Yangtze
  • The students were then given an orientation on the information they need to collect about their assigned river
  • The ICT teacher explained about the preparation of power point presentation.
  • The students discussed in groups, researched the internet and browsed through books in the library
  • The teams prepared the Digital Fact File of a river using MS- power point presentation as their tool.
  • The teams presented their Digital fact files to the rest of the class.

You can find their findings in the links below.(The blogs were created by students themselves)

Here are the students discussing and sharing work cooperatively.
So the work has been handed out and the students are leading out jobs to each other on the presentation of the work. Some are even planning out the layout of the slides in the presentation!

  "How is the planning going?".
" Let us cooperate and divide the work amongst our group as planned?"
" This activity is sure to be interesting!"
These are the statements going through the students minds.
