Activity Two-
SWOT Analysis on rivers
SWOT Methodology
The acronym SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Strengths and weaknesses can be regarded as internal factors whereas opportunities and threats stand for external factors. The SWOT analysis gives the possibility to develop a strategy which can help to tackle the weaknesses and threats.
Internal factors–inside environment (in the basin)External factors–outside environment (factors exists inside the country/region)

Taking up the baton from the Grades-7 and 8, my Grade 9 students continued to study the same rivers - Ganges, Mississippi, Nile, Thames and Yangtze with a more in-depth analysis.
The Activity Description
•The students were updated upon the features, geographical
importance of a river, the power of River erosion and River deposition as a part of Geography
curriculum.
•As an introductory activity, the students watched a movie -
'Landforms Rivers' and 'The Niagara tour'
•The
Economics faculty, Ms Riyaz briefed the students with the opportunities that rivers can
create to local people and the country at large like hydro power, irrigation, drinking, etc.
•The
students were also lectured by the Environmental Management Faculty, Mr Sudarshan on
the environmental impacts of river pollution, water contamination and building
dams on plant, wild life and humans
•They were then divided into teams based on 5 important
rivers of the world i.e. Ganges, Mississippi, Nile, Thames and Yangtze
•The students were
then given an orientation on the information they need to collect under each quadrant of SWOT- strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats about their assigned river
•The students discussed in groups, researched the internet
and browsed through books in the library
•The teams prepared
the SWOT analysis of the river assigned to them using SWOT
quadrant charts.
•The teams then presented their findings to the rest of the class quadrant wise.
•The students compared and analyzed each quadrant of every river
individually and assessed their peers by completing
the peer assessment forms.

After listening to an orientation the students started to build up the foundations of the SWOT project with research.
Whilst researching they collected some really good material which is very informative
In the library to source down material
Here are some more snippets on the research.
The students then started preparing the SWOT Charts
The students then started presenting the completed charts to the rest of the class in groups with effort and communicative skills.
The ISA SWOT Analysis project was a grand success!

Internal Analysis
The blog was really helpful for students like us and we are really grateful for the help that it offers. Firstly I was confused now it is clear to me. However, some students might be unable to grasp the skills or don't have the required time. Therefore, personally, I have used Dream Assignments and it is really helpful. Thanks for providing such amazing blog writing.
